Streets, avenues and highways. Wind, solar, gas, coal and nuclear power; pumps and towers for water; sewers, landfills and recycling. Then fire stations, police, clinics, schools, parks and buses.
Every building goes up inside its scaffolding, one floor at a time, with tower cranes overhead and workers on site. Then the families, shopkeepers and workers move in.
Cars and trucks fill the streets, and jams build wherever a road is too small. People walk to work, to the shops and to the park, and crowds gather in the squares.
Business has its good years and its bad ones. Outbreaks, factory closures and gridlock flare up and need a fix. Power plants and roads age and break down until you refurbish them, and a city that stays broke too long goes into receivership.
Mira and Bram teach you in a spoken tutorial where you build your real city as you go. They draw their plans right on the map, and with Auto or Auto-manage they take over while you watch.
Step down into the city you built and stroll it, over the shoulder or through your own eyes. Take a photo while you're there.
No ads, no account, and no data collected. Your cities stay on your device, and the whole game plays offline: on a train, on a plane, anywhere.
The tutorial, both coaches, walk mode and your first town, up to the Town milestone, are free. One purchase unlocks the full city: every map, the open map, and growth all the way to Megacity.
Screenshots from the game are coming soon. Until then, here is the key art.
They don't always agree. That's the lesson.
“Welcome! I'm Mira, your city planner. It's just an empty field and a highway for now, but give it time.”
The careful teacher. She knows where the water pumps go and why homes don't belong next to the factories.
“And I'm Bram. Developer, visionary, owner of eleven cranes. Mira plans, I build. Usually in that order.”
Cheeky, impatient and funny, and now and then wrong in a harmless way. Mira sets him straight.
I have loved city builders since I was a kid: lay a road, zone a few homes, and watch a town wake up. I wanted one that looks like a storybook come to life, where every building rises floor by floor inside its scaffolding, and that feels as good with a finger on a phone as it does with a mouse.

Inkwell City is a city builder in hand-inked 3D, for iPhone, iPad and Android. Lay a road off the highway, paint homes, shops, offices and industry, and watch every building rise floor by floor inside its scaffolding, with tower cranes and workers on site. Bring in power, water, sewers and recycling; place fire stations, clinics, schools and parks; buy the next parcel of land; and grow from a crossroads to a megacity through booms, slumps, ageing roads and sudden crises.
Two coaches play beside you. Mira, the city planner, is the careful teacher; Bram, the developer, is cheeky, impatient and now and then wrong. In their spoken tutorial you build your real city as you go; they draw their plans on the map for you to build; and Auto lets them run the city while you watch.
When the city is up, walk its streets, over the shoulder or through your own eyes.
No ads, no account, no data collected, and it plays offline.
